Slack
Connect Icebreaker to your Slack workspace to receive network intel and notifications directly in Slack.
Once connected, Icebreaker can surface activity from the people in your network, send you updates when people you are tracking make career moves or post notable activity, and deliver intro notifications when a teammate requests an intro from you. You can configure which updates to receive and filter them to what is most relevant to your hiring goals.
To connect Slack, go to the Integrations section in your Icebreaker account settings and follow the OAuth flow to authorize the Icebreaker app.
Email
Intro request notifications and account updates are also delivered by email to the address associated with your Icebreaker account. No setup required.
To adjust notification preferences, go to your account settings and look for the Notifications section.
FAQ
How is Icebreaker Teams different from LinkedIn Recruiter?
LinkedIn Recruiter gives you access to all of LinkedIn and lets you send InMails to strangers. Icebreaker Teams focuses on warm paths -- people your team already has a relationship with. The result is higher response rates and better signal on fit, at the cost of a smaller addressable pool. The two tools are complementary: use Icebreaker first to find warm candidates, then LinkedIn Recruiter for volume when warm paths do not exist.
What data does Icebreaker access from connected accounts?
When you connect LinkedIn, GitHub, or X/Twitter, Icebreaker syncs your connection graph -- the people you are connected to and basic public profile information. We do not access private messages, DMs, email addresses from social platforms, or any content you have not made public.
Is Icebreaker SOC 2 certified?
Yes. Icebreaker achieved SOC 2 Type I certification in May 2024. You can learn more at secureframe.com.
Can candidates see that I have looked at them?
No. Searching for someone in Icebreaker does not notify them. Candidates only hear from you if you request an introduction or reach out directly.
What happens when a teammate leaves the company?
When a team member is removed from your workspace, their network is no longer included in team searches. Their historical connections are not retained in your team graph.
How fresh is the data?
Icebreaker syncs your team's graphs periodically. Most changes -- new connections, updated roles -- are reflected within a few days. You can trigger a manual re-sync from your connected accounts settings at any time.
We are a small team. Is Icebreaker Teams still useful?
Yes, though results improve significantly with more connected teammates. A two or three-person team will see a meaningful network, but adding five or more people with active professional networks dramatically expands coverage.
Can I use Icebreaker Teams for sales prospecting, not just hiring?
Yes. The search and warm intro workflow applies equally well to finding prospects and building warm paths into accounts. Many Icebreaker customers use it for both.
